Daily Arithmetic Starter System – KS1 Bundle

Build arithmetic fluency across KS1 – 10 questions at a time.

The KS1 Daily Arithmetic Starter Bundle gives teachers a simple and consistent approach to developing arithmetic fluency throughout Years 1 and 2.

Pupils complete 10 carefully selected arithmetic questions each day, 4 days a week. Teachers can use them for morning work, maths lesson starters, retrieval practice or a quick daily arithmetic activity.

However, this is much more than a collection of arithmetic questions. We have carefully mapped the content to create progression across KS1.

In Year 1, pupils develop and practise key foundational arithmetic skills. As new learning takes place in maths lessons, the Daily Arithmetic Starter gradually introduces these skills into the questions.

This progression continues into Year 2. Pupils revisit important Year 1 content while gradually encountering more Year 2 arithmetic. Therefore, earlier learning remains part of the daily routine rather than simply disappearing as pupils move through the curriculum.

As a result, pupils regularly retrieve, practise and strengthen previously taught skills while building fluency with new learning.

The same structure runs across both year groups, giving schools a consistent approach to daily arithmetic practice throughout KS1.
