The Whole School Daily Arithmetic Starter Bundle provides a simple, progressive and consistent approach to developing arithmetic fluency across your entire school.
Pupils complete 10 carefully selected arithmetic questions each day, 4 days a week. Teachers can use them for morning work, maths lesson starters, retrieval practice or a quick daily arithmetic activity.
However, this is much more than a collection of arithmetic questions. We have carefully mapped the content to create clear progression from Year 1 through to Year 6.
In Year 1, pupils begin by developing and practising essential foundational arithmetic skills. Then, as pupils progress through each year group, new arithmetic content is gradually introduced into the Daily Arithmetic Starter.
Importantly, earlier learning doesn’t disappear. Previously taught skills continue to appear alongside new year-group content. Therefore, pupils regularly retrieve, practise and strengthen essential arithmetic knowledge as they move through the school.
As pupils progress from Year 1 to Year 6, the level of challenge increases and the balance shifts towards current year-group content. At the same time, carefully selected prior learning remains in regular rotation.
This creates a genuinely whole-school approach to arithmetic practice. Pupils encounter the same familiar daily structure each year while the mathematical content develops alongside them.
What’s included?
The four-day structure also gives teachers flexibility. For example, teachers can use the fifth day for a longer arithmetic assessment, consolidation or intervention. Alternatively, they can choose a specific focus based on the needs of their class.
Everything is ready to use, making it easy to establish a consistent arithmetic routine across the whole school without creating additional planning or preparation for teachers.
From the first arithmetic skills in Year 1 to increasingly complex calculations in Year 6, pupils benefit from a carefully planned journey built around practice, retrieval, progression and fluency.
Six year groups. 10 questions a day. 4 days a week. One carefully planned arithmetic journey from Year 1 to Year 6.
